Laser Dentistry
At Carrollwood Village Dental, we use CO₂ laser technology to provide precise and effective periodontal care. This advanced dental laser allows us to target gum tissue with minimal discomfort. It also promotes faster healing and reduces the need for more invasive procedures.
How CO₂ Laser Dentistry Helps with Periodontal Care
- Reduces gum inflammation and infection — The laser can remove diseased tissue while preserving healthy gums.
- No needles — CO2 laser gum treatment can be provided with only topical numbing.
- No gum cutting and no sutures — The CO2 laser is "non-contact." This means we treat your gums with light energy, not a scalpel.
- Minimally invasive treatment — There's much less bleeding and swelling compared to traditional gum surgery.
- Faster healing and recovery — Patients often experience quicker comfort and return to normal oral function than with traditional gum surgery.
- Enhanced precision — It allows dentists to carefully sculpt and treat gum tissue with accuracy.
- Improved outcomes for gum disease — It helps manage periodontal pockets and supports long-term gum health.
Using CO₂ laser technology, we can treat gum disease, gingival overgrowth, and other periodontal issues effectively while making the experience more comfortable for our patients.

Digital X-Rays
With digital radiographs, x-rays can be taken more quickly than ever, as there is no waiting for film to develop. The pictures are viewable instantly on a computer screen after being taken. In addition, digital x-rays offer low-dose radiation compared to traditional film x rays. Digital x-rays are also easy to send to specialists and insurance companies, which means more efficiency in the completion of your treatment.
Digital Intraoral Cameras
Our digital intraoral cameras are designed to take quick and painless high-resolution photos of your teeth. This allows for diagnostic accuracy. In addition, you can view the photos on the screen with Dr. Mancuso so that you fully understand all of your treatment options.
Nitrous Oxide or "Laughing Gas"
Dental anxiety is common and prevents many from getting the care they need. Nitrous oxide, sometimes called laughing gas, is a safe, well-established sedation option that helps anxious patients feel calm and comfortable during treatment without putting them fully to sleep. It works quickly, wears off fast, and is suitable for a wide range of procedures, from routine cleanings to more involved restorative work.
What to Expect with Nitrous Oxide
- We place a small, comfortable mask over your nose, which delivers a blend of nitrous oxide and oxygen.
- Within a few minutes, you'll begin to feel relaxed and at ease. Most patients describe a mild sense of warmth or tingling.
- You remain fully conscious and responsive throughout the procedure, able to hear Dr. Mancuso, answer questions, and communicate if needed.
- Once we complete treatment, we turn off the flow of nitrous and administer pure oxygen for a few minutes to clear any remaining effects.
- Most patients feel completely back to normal within minutes of removing the mask.
- Because nitrous oxide clears your system so quickly, you can drive yourself home after your appointment, and there's no need to arrange a ride.
If you think nitrous oxide can benefit you at your next appointment, just let a team member know, and we'll be happy to arrange it.
