Your tooth isn't just signaling pain; it's screaming a warning. Every moment you ignore that sharp, throbbing sensation is a moment your body is desperately trying to tell you something is seriously wrong. Dental infections can rapidly spread, turning a manageable issue into a life-threatening emergency that could send you to the hospital, drain your savings, and risk your overall health.

Don’t ignore dental pain; contact our dental office for a same-day emergency appointment. We can assess your situation and create a treatment plan to restore your oral health.

We Treat Dental Emergencies

At Carrollwood Village Dental, we understand how scary a dental emergency can be; when the unexpected happens, we suggest taking a deep breath and trying to stay calm. Here are the most common emergencies we treat:

  • Tooth pain — If you have a toothache that doesn’t subside when you take over-the-counter medication, it’s best to contact our dental office. Tooth pain is your body’s way of telling you something is wrong and usually doesn’t go away on its own.
  • Bleeding or swollen gums — It’s not normal for your gums to bleed when you floss, so if you notice severe bleeding or swollen gums, you may need emergency treatment. You could have periodontal disease or a dental infection and need immediate care.
  • Knocked-out tooth — Time is critical if your tooth gets completely knocked out. The sooner you call us, the better chance we have to save your tooth. In the meantime, rinse your tooth and try to reinsert it without touching its roots. If that doesn’t work, store it inside your cheek or a glass of milk until you arrive at our dental office.
  • Lost filling — When your filling falls out, your damaged tooth is vulnerable to cracking, breaking, or infection. You can place sugarless gum in the cavity until you can schedule a dental appointment.
  • Damaged restoration — For a broken crown, bridge, or denture, you should contact your Tampa dentist right away to avoid further dental work. Bring the restoration with you so we can assess the damage.
  • Abscessed tooth — A dental abscess requires immediate attention; without treatment, the infection can spread to your jaw and other tissues. If you have severe pain, swelling, or a bump on your gums that looks like a pimple, call us at once.
