Porcelain veneers are small, custom-made shells that a dentist bonds to the front of your teeth to cover imperfections. Veneers can cover a range of dental issues, including:
- Cracks
- Chips
- Discoloration
- Gaps
- Misshapen teeth
The Veneer Placement Process
During your first appointment, your dentist will examine your teeth and overall oral health to determine if you’re a good candidate for veneers. Next, your dentist will prep your teeth by removing a little bit of enamel, just enough to create a good fit. Then, they’ll take impressions, which will be used to create your custom veneers in a dental lab.
You’ll come back once your custom veneers are ready for placement. Then, your dentist will check the color, shape, and fit of your veneers and bond them to your teeth using dental cement. Finally, they’ll make sure your bite is functional and make any needed adjustments. You’ll be able to return to normal activities the very same day! You can even eat or drink as soon as the anesthesia has worn off.
